GREEN FLAG RESOURCES
The resources have been developed for use by a range of ages and abilities of pupils
but please feel free to adapt them to suit your needs. Each lesson or 'set' of resources
includes a 'Teachers' food for thought' section. This provides some background information
for you, as a teacher starting to deliver activities with a global dimension.
The 'Teachers' food for thought' should provide you with a context to place the
work in, ideas on how to organise the activities, places to do further background
reading about issues you are unfamiliar with and ideas to share and discuss with
your pupils to ensure they get the most out of the activities.
We would welcome your feedback on any of the resources.

Mapping Biodiversity Local to Global
|
|
Resource Summary
|
The aim of this activity is to expand the idea of biodiversity in the immediate
area of your school and compare any issues and opportunities for learning about
biodiversity with a global perspective. By carrying out survey work on an area and
exchanging information with a school in another part of the world, pupils can examine
and compare similarities and differences, learn to value biodiversity, understand
some of the threats and pressures on different environments and identify the interdependent
nature and links between our actions here and biodiversity around the world.

Rainforests Global Dimensions
|
|
Resource Summary
|
This activity is designed to be a complex thinking tool and opportunity for research
and reporting. It is designed to be an activity which stretches and challenges pupil
understanding of a specific habitat, namely the Brazilian Rainforest, and provides
a tool to gather and synthesise different view points, opinions and issues and shows
how they are interconnected. It looks at all of the Global Dimension key concepts
in relation to one particular environment - a technique which could be transferred
to apply to other environments and biomes.
